Those wise men sought him wholeheartedly: wise men and women still do. But over against them stood Herod and the Jewish clergy. Herod’s response was hatred and fear: hatred of anything and anyone that threatened his self-centredness, and fear of a possible rival, however improbable.
Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. 12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.
15 Μαρ 2006 · The very next passage in the gospel after the report of the birth of Jesus records the visit of the wise men to Bethlehem. The account is short and straightforward; but it does include a reference to an Old Testament prophecy which will be important in the interpretation.
Wise Men from the East. 2 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, [a]wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”
We have much more reason to believe Him and worship Him... His miracles, His resurrection from the dead; His teachings, His death on the cross for our sins; Are we willing to make the effort to find, worship, and serve this great King? As stated on a popular bumper-sticker: "Wise men still seek Him"
23 Ιουλ 2013 · The Wise Men worshipped Jesus with gifts (2:10-11) i. The Wise Men rejoiced exceedingly with great joy (2:10) ii. What is the significance of these gifts? 1. We don’t know for sure if there is meant to be significance to these gifts. At the least, it was a lot of money that helped finance Joseph and Mary’s trip to Egypt and back.
God’s Word reminds us that “the Holy Scriptures are able to make us WISE unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:15) IT IS ONLY by God’s gift of faith that we are among The Wise Men (women/children) who still worship Christ. The Wise men “bowed down and worshiped Him.”
