Overall, Wisconsin residents died from alcohol-induced causes at a rate nearly 25% higher than the nationwide rate in 2020. Notably, deaths from drug-induced causes are also happening in Wisconsin at a higher rate (26.7 per 100,000 in 2020) and have increased faster (up more than six-fold since 1999) than alcohol-induced deaths.
