26 Σεπ 2020 · In view of global passenger spending capacity, estimates indicate aggregate direct purchases of $7.97 bln. (+11.4%, 2018/2017), corresponding to $376 average passenger spending before boarding a cruise and to $101 in port visiting during a cruise.
Key findings highlight that although the pandemic suppressed passenger volumes, the cruise industry's global activities in 2022 yielded significant economic benefits, supporting $137.6 billion in economic output, $68.9 billion in GDP, 1.2 million total jobs and $42.8 billion in wages.

The study examines the statistical data of the top three cruise companies that account for nearly 74.6–91.8% of the worldwide cruise tourism for 2015–2021.

The cruise industry has proven its resilience throughout its more than 50-year history—as is evident in the industry’s responsible return to operations beginning in July 2020 in Europe. Since then, more than 10 million people have cruised, and intent to cruise is higher than it was prior to the global health crisis.
