19 Ιαν 2024 · Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is brimming with important symbology and real-life references to religion, mythology, alchemy, and more. The core difference between Fullmetal Alchemist and Brotherhood is how liberally they adapt Hiromu Arakawa's manga.
if you want to watch both, FMA2003 and its movie, and then Brotherhood. if you only want to watch the better one, just watch Brotherhood. FMA and FMA:B both start the same, but FMA:B follows the source material all the way through whereas FMA has an anime-original ending.
FMA - more 'local' and 'grounded', e.g. effect of the war on civilians, effect of alchemy on people's lives - especially as a contributor to familial loss. FMAB - more 'expansive' and steeped in lore and history, e.g. Xing, alkhahestry, Xerxes, Briggs, Eastern and Western sages, origins of Amestris.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is the second anime adaptation developed by Bones based on the Fullmetal Alchemist manga by Hiromu Arakawa and is directed by Yasuhiro Irie and written by Hiroshi Ōnogi. It was first announced in the manga series' 20th tankōbon volume.
24 Οκτ 2020 · Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The original Fullmetal Alchemist & Brotherhood stem from the same manga series, but there are still many differences that set them apart.
TLDR: Two completely different stories, both are must watches and masterpieces that are worth your time. I recommend watching Fullmetal Alchemist first and then watching Brotherhood (preferably with a break in between) but really they are fine in any order.
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. While they both start the same way, the first one starts to develop following a whole different path than the Manga. This is because when it was being aired, the Manga was not done yet, so the plot as well as the end of the anime are invented.
