if you want to watch both, FMA2003 and its movie, and then Brotherhood. if you only want to watch the better one, just watch Brotherhood. FMA and FMA:B both start the same, but FMA:B follows the source material all the way through whereas FMA has an anime-original ending.

31 Μαΐ 2022 · Although adapted from the same manga, Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood anime differentiate in several technical factors such as animations and soundtrack. The core differences though are in its characters and plot which are vastly different.
Both are amazing, but in terms of which is better, Brotherhood. I simply did not like the ending to FMA the first at all. The second has a better ending and good openings imo.
10 Ιουν 2020 · But there's a point around the episode 30 mark where the 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist anime begins to diverge from the manga and begins to spin its own yarn. Brotherhood begins animating untouched material by episode 10, which means there are plenty of differences between the two versions.
TLDR: Two completely different stories, both are must watches and masterpieces that are worth your time. I recommend watching Fullmetal Alchemist first and then watching Brotherhood (preferably with a break in between) but really they are fine in any order.
