I've been debating someone on "BJJ -vs- Wrestling. Which is better for fighting and why". I'm making this post in r/wrestling & r/bjj to get other people's (most likely biased opinions). I'm saying BJJ, due to fighting off back (Wrestling that's a "pin" and match is over, so Wrestlers aren't working on that aspect of their game).

Wrestling is the current 'low hanging fruit' in terms of places you can easily obtain and advantage over other people who aren't training it. The level of wrestling in most of BJJ is really low, so if you can become just a mediocre wrestler you can use that skill to help you deal score points vs people who are terrible wrestlers.
It honestly seems to me like wrestling where you learn how to control your opponent, how to control his hips, how to pin him to the floor - so basically how to impose your will on him and how to impose control, is far more dominant nowadays than BJJ.
