27 Μαρ 2023 · What Is a Cash Flow Statement (CFS)? A cash flow statement (CFS) is a financial statement that captures how much cash is generated and utilized by a company or business in a specific time period.
The statement of cash flows must disclose cash flows associated with interest paid and received, dividends paid and received, and income taxes paid, as well as any non-cash transactions that occurred in the current year.
The statement of cash flows must detail changes in the total of cash, cash equivalents, and amounts generally described as restricted cash or restricted cash equivalents for the period.
The cash flow statement reports the cash generated and spent during a specific period of time (e.g., a month, quarter, or year). The statement of cash flows acts as a bridge between the income statement and balance sheet by showing how cash moved in and out of the business.
For example, when the opening balance of an asset, liability or equity item is reconciled to its closing balance using information from the statement of profit or loss and/or additional notes, the balancing figure is usually the cash flow.
