25 Ιουλ 2013 · The calf is purchased by Wulf Cattle from the dairy at a premium based on current Holstein bull calf market prices, which results in added income for the dairy. The calves are moved to a calf ranch; at 400 lbs., they go to a backgrounding yard.
2 Οκτ 2015 · Through Wulf Cattle’s buyback program Jersey-Limousin calves were purchase for $325 apiece as of Sept. 21. The market topped off earlier this summer at $500 per calf on June 1. Wulf Cattle also has some purebred Angus bulls in the operation along with LimFlex, a cross between Limousin and Angus.
Wulf Cattle markets beef semen to dairymen through Genex and sells some Limousin and Lim-Flex (Angus hybrid) bulls for natural service. Is it sustainable? “I don’t think we need to question whether it is sustainable. Our role is to feed the world with high-quality protein,” Wulf said, referencing global demand.
