The Texas Historical Commission’s (THC) Texas in World War II initiative was a multi-year statewide effort to honor the role of Texas during the Second World War. The THC launched the initiative on September 2, 2005, at the Texas State Capitol in Austin.

5 Ιαν 2022 · An estimated 200,000 airmen, including 45,000 pilots, 12,000 bombardiers, 12,000 navigators, and thousands of aerial gunners, photographers, and mechanics, were trained at the forty military airfields in Texas. More prisoners of war were housed in Texas during World War II than in any other state.
There were more than 150 installations across the state, and more than 1.5 million military personnel came to Texas during the war. (More than 750,000 Texans served in World War II.)
