I would generally agree with what you’re say but, in this case, when WWE chooses to run NXT against an AEW PPV that happens on the same night every year - they are inviting the “competition” and “third brand” critique.
It taking HBK nearly two minutes to tap, after trying everything he could to escape speaks to the resilience of Shawn, and the tenacity of Kurt to not let go of the hold. Brilliant story-telling on both of their parts and excellent match.
8 years ago today, John Cena introduced Daniel Bryan as his SummerSlam opponent for the WWE Championship. Cena wrestled with a severe elbow injury, which he will take time off. Bryan would go on to win the WWE Title and Randy would cash in his MITB contract immediately after that to win it from him.
No spoilers in the title, or in threads without a [SPOILERS] tag, for 24 hours after an event has aired. Nobody wants to come on to what should be a safe subreddit and get last night’s Survivor Series (or whatever) results spoiled before they’ve had a chance to watch it.
