The Lockheed Martin X-56 is an American modular unmanned aerial vehicle that is being designed to explore High-Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) flight technologies for use in future military unmanned reconnaissance aircraft.

11 Δεκ 2019 · The X-56A remotely piloted aircraft begins a research mission from NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center in the skies above Edwards Air Force Base, California. The aircraft has lightweight and flexible wings and a system which suppressed a potentially destructive vibration called flutter.
The X-56A will test to the edge of the flight envelope in an effort to mature technologies that will lead to more slender, lightweight, high-aspect-ratio wings, resulting in better aircraft performance.
23 Ιαν 2014 · The modular X-56A system includes two center bodies, a set of stiff wings, three sets of flexible wings, a ground control station, and a transportation trailer. The X-56A has easily removed wings and is convertible to other wing configurations, such as a joined-wing planform or a wing-tail configuration.
