Centers for cross-country (also called XC or Nordic skiing) are found in most parts of Massachusetts, with the greatest concentration in the Berkshire Mountains in the west. Almost all cross country skiing centers also welcoming snowshoeing and also offer snowshoe equipment rentals and lessons.

Northfield Mountain has over 25 miles of trails designed specifically for cross country skiing and groomed for both classical and free-style skiing. Our trails offer some of the finest Nordic skiing in the region, from beginner trails to the demanding 800-foot vertical climb of Tenth Mountain Trail.
