Centers for cross-country (also called XC or Nordic skiing) are found in most parts of Massachusetts, with the greatest concentration in the Berkshire Mountains in the west. Almost all cross country skiing centers also welcoming snowshoeing and also offer snowshoe equipment rentals and lessons.

The Amherst Nordic Ski Association was founded in 2018 to promote and enhance nordic (cross country) skiing in Amherst, Massachusetts and the greater Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts. Amherst Nordic supports programs for youth and adults, tourers and racers.
Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing available early December to early April, daily, 8AM to 4:30PM. Group ski lessons are held at 11:00 on Saturdays and Sundays. Please sign up by 12:00 on weekends to ensure a spot for the 1:00 lesson.
