Students who pursue a Surveying and Mapping minor will gain an understanding of global positioning; analyzing spatial data; digital map production and electronic data collection; survey software applications, boundary surveying and construction layout techniques.
Graduates of the Surveying and Mapping program earn an Associate of Applied Science degree. Coursework includes operating state-of-the-art surveying equipment and computer software, in conjunction with understanding the fundamentals of civil engineering and site design.
Surveying and mapping technicians collect data in the field, make calculations and do computer-aided drafting. Advancing beyond the technician level studies, this program provides the academic preparation needed to pursue a license as a professional surveyor.
