24 Απρ 2010 · I'm having an issue with icons that have suddenly gone missing in Windows 7. The icons for several programs and their associated files have been replaced with a generic Windows icon (as if there is no file association). If I open the files, however, they open with no problem.

If your icons have disappeared right click your start menu and choose the icons you want on your desktop. If your icons have been hidden, on an explorer window, click Organise --> folder and search options --> View menu --> Select the 'SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS' and click apply.
