For now, the workaround is to open the Play Store app icon. Then there, tap on the 3-line icon (or go to Menu), and then tap option My apps & games. Then tap the Installed tab there. Then tap on the item Android System WebView, and uninstall it for now, and check.
So, I'd place my bet that Yahoo Mail doesn't always play nice with my desktop browser. This particular behavior is in no way catastrophic, but it's increasingly annoying - and I would genuinely appreciate a solution.
