10 Νοε 2017 · Regardless of what your manual transmission uses, the fluid or oil’s primary function is lubrication—preventing metal-to-metal contact between the meshing gears. Gear oil is different from engine oil.
Adjust the oil level in the transmission exactly according to filling regulations. If the oil level is too low, the transmission will be damaged. If the oil level is too high, the excess oil will leak from the transmission through the overflow when heated. The escaping oil can ignite on hot parts (e.g. exhaust system).
10 Μαΐ 2023 · Have not had much luck finding the proper way to drain the 10 speed transmission. The manual calls for service at 45k for severe service, would this be just a drain, new filter and fill or a complete flush? My understanding is the plug in the bottom of the pan is the check plug, not a drain plug. The side plug is the fill plug.
