Rumor: I've heard from several people with close ties to the YMCA that they are selling the Monroe Ave branch, closing it permanently. I grew up at this Y, my first job, I still work there on the side 23 years later. It's very disappointing to hear this. I know times are tough, but it seems like they could've kept it afloat if they wanted to.

A friend of mine says they have really good basketball at Alexander and Southeast sometimes. Finley, near 540 and six forks is an older facility, but it’s a good one. Taylor has a dome over the pool, making it indoor, but they open it when it's warm. They also have an outdoor pool.
