York Cemetery is a cemetery located in the North York area of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The site of York Cemetery was originally a property farmed by Joseph Shepard, who bought the land in 1805. [1] . The brick farm house on the property was constructed in 1837 by Joseph's son, Michael.
Colourful flowerbeds, distinctive architecture and a collection of beautiful sculptures – opened in 1948, these are the defining features of York Cemetery. It’s also home to historic Michael Shepard House, built in the early 1850s, which has been officially recognised by the North York Historical Board.
