Prior to installing a new clutch, you have to clean the inside of the bell housing as well as all components of the clutch actuation system, e.g. the clutch release fork, the guiding sleeve for the clutch release bearing, and also the transmission input shaft including the multi-gear spline.
A worn or defective clutch cannot be repaired, but has to be replaced at a specialist workshop. Step 1: Installing a new clutch. Replacing the clutch of a manual transmission so expertly that the gears can be shifted again perfectly is mere routine for an automotive technician or mechanic.

The technology. The clutch cover transmits engine torque via the clutch disc to the transmission input shaft. The clutch cover is bolted securely to the engine flywheel and consists essentially of a metal housing and a diaphragm spring with integrated actuation levers.
