3 Αυγ 2022 · THE NEW ERA. Like many Swiss watchmakers with deep historical roots, Zodiac struggled through the Quartz Crisis period that spanned the 1970s to the early 1990s, though even this era wasn’t without its highlights.
The first flat pocket watch, launched in 1928, used the Zodiac calibre 1617 movement. In 1930, the brand designed and produced the first automatic sports watch and the popular Zodiac Autographic. The Autographic was self-winding with a power reserve gauge, an unbreakable crystal, and a radium dial and was water and shock resistant. [ 5 ]
27 Ιουν 2016 · Most watch collectors will at least have a passing knowledge of recent Zodiac history. After a successful period that started roughly in the 1950s and continued through the ’70s, the brand, like so many others, faltered during the Quartz crisis.
25 Μαρ 2013 · In a case of art imitating life, two detectives actually did notice a Zodiac watch on the wrist of suspect Arthur Leigh Allen while speaking with him outside his home (in the Graysmith’s book Allen’s name was changed to Robert Hall Starr).
26 Νοε 2023 · The Quartz Crisis during the 1970s and 1980s affected the Zodiac watch production, as it did for many other Swiss watch brands. Finally, in 1984, the company declared bankruptcy, and while they were acquired twice during the 1990s, the efforts to recover and improve the brand recognition failed.
The brand is legitimately a "swiss made" watch with automatic movements but because they are owned by Fossil there seems to be some issues. I'm curious about the quality of the watches as well as an explanation of the controversy. Thanks. Current Zodiac is just as legit as pre-Fossil Zodiac.
6 Ιαν 2015 · Zodiac faded away, changing hands and releasing some forgettable models more associated with mall fashion watches than with the brand’s former glory. When Fossil bought the Zodiac name in 2001, it used its vast resources to reinvent the brand, but gone for the first time was the Sea Wolf name.
