For the 1969 hydraulic lifter engine, they measured a peak of 352.0 bhp (262.5 kW) at 5500 rpm. The 1970 mechanical lifter engine measured better, with a peak of 366.5 bhp (273.3 kW), also at 5500 rpm. [3]
The Boss 429 carried an output rating of 375 HP, and 450 lb-ft of torque. However, it is often speculated that the 429’s true output was somewhere closer to 400 HP. Power was directed through a Ford Toploader four-speed, close ratio transmission.
The Boss 429 engine was offered late in 1969 and was rated at over 370 horsepower. It had aluminum heads with extremely large free flowing ports, contoured exhaust manifolds, a high rise intake manifold to help it gain horses. The block was a strengthened 429 cast block.
The Ford Mustang Boss 429's engine is a naturally aspirated petrol, 7 litre, overhead valve 90 degree V 8 cylinder with 2 valves per cylinder. This powerplant develops 375 bhp (380 PS/280 kW) of power at 5200 rpm, and maximum torque of 665 N·m (490 lb·ft/67.8 kgm) at 3400 rpm.

11 Ιουλ 2022 · The heart of the 1969 Boss 429 was, of course, a big block 429 cubic-inch, semi-hemi engine rated at 375 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft. of torque. Those in the know state this rating is somewhat conservative and the Boss 429 actually developed upwards of 400 horsepower.
