9mm NATO can be considered an overpressure variant of 9×19mm Parabellum that is defined by NATO standards. The proof pressure is 3,150 bars (45,700 psi), corresponding to a maximum service pressure of 2,520 bars (36,500 psi) (both using CIP methodology).
1 Ιουν 2021 · The 9mm NATO is equivalent to a slightly overpressure variant of the standard 9mm Luger. Its maximum pressure is 36,500 psi, which is four percent higher than SAAMI’s spec for the more common 9mm Luger. +P and +P+ rounds are available as well.
The ballistic performance of a 9mm cartridge varies depending on the load you’re firing. You can expect a muzzle velocity of approximately 1,150 fps and a muzzle energy 350 ft-lbs from the average 115 grain load (out of a 4” barrel).
11 Αυγ 2020 · That’s the biggest difference. 9mm NATO is a bit spicier than 9mm Luger. It’s accurate and reliable, but it’s definitely snappier because it’s designed to hit 1250+ feet per second out of a standard pistol. Most commercial 9mm ammo is going around 1100 feet per second with a 115 grain bullet.

It appears that overall, the optimal barrel length for 9mm (for something like an AR-15 pistol build, SBR, or similar setup), is about 7 to 8 inches for maximum efficiency and handling, though going longer can still have benefits.
25 Μαρ 2021 · 9mm NATO: As stated in one of the above sections, the 9mm NATO is a bit different in that the standard 9mm utilizes a 115 grain projectile with standard pressures. The NATO cartridge is loaded to higher pressures with the most popular bullet weight being 124 grains, but NATO doesn’t dictate the bullet has to be a certain weight.
