In most groups, the chairperson or another officer calls the business meeting, which ordinarily is held on a monthly or quarterly basis. While some groups may occasionally permit nonmembers to attend, the group may request that only home group members participate or vote.
This document presents a simplified version for use in the business meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous or other 12-step programs. This is not General Service Conference-approved A.A. literature, but it does reflect common practice.
Business Meetings. Business Meetings that are held regularly by a group to conduct its affairs may follow whatever format or process the group chooses. AA experience has shown that decisions made by the group’s members at these meetings ought to be recorded in the minutes of the meetings.
26 Σεπ 2017 · Business meetings at Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) resemble those outside of AA, but are also distinct to the AA program. All AA steering committee officers serve their group according to AA’s preamble: “Our primary purpose is to stay sober and to help other alcoholics achieve sobriety.”
A sense of the meeting may be taken by simple majority to vote or table. If voted on, the motion must have a 2/3 majority to pass. Debate has ended. Debate on a tabled motion will be resumed under old business at the next business meeting, and the . voting process will be the same as above.
