The Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce (also known as 1750 GTV) entered production in late 1967 along with the 1750 Berlina sedan and 1750 Spider. The cars were first shown to the press in January 1968. The same type of engine was used to power all three versions; this rationalisation was a first for Alfa Romeo.
The 1750 GTV (Gran Turismo Veloce) was powered by a 1,799cc twin-cam four-cylinder engine whose stroke was lengthened from 82 to 88.5mm over the 1600 engine. The rev limit was lowered from 7,000 RPM to 6,000 RPM and the torque increased to 186 Nm (137 ft-lb) at 3,000 RPM.

The Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV appeared in 1967, replacing the Giulia Sprint GT Veloce and introducing many updates and modifications. Most significantly, the engine capacity was increased to 1,779 cc, and the peak power from the engine was increased to 120 bhp at 5,500 rpm.
