22 Ιαν 2022 · Yes, the banana plant Musa basjoo can survive the winter with proper care such as wrapping in straw, fleece and then a protective cap of plastic. If you don’t do this, they will just grow back from the ground, as the roots are hardy.

2 Ιουλ 2021 · In northern climates, Basjoo banana care basics must be followed to ensure the rhizomatous roots survive the winter. This includes removing the dead leaf canopy, cutting the pseudostem 1 to 2 feet (.6 m.) above the ground, and mulching around the base.
While they are reputedly hardy down to -15ºC, they may require some winter protection in the form of a thick layer of protective mulch over the roots and a layer of horticultural fleece around the pseudostem. In milder locations and sheltered microclimates, you might be able to get away with no winter protection at all.
Some plant varieties are hardy and fit for winter storage while others prefer a warmer climate. Whether it includes an edible inflorescence or it is intended to serve as a mere ornamental plant, the banana plant is a special plant which one should properly cultivate and care for.
