And an ongoing Melonds libretro core not just based on the official emulator, quoting the dev: " Unlike most other libretro cores, melonDS DS is not a fork of an existing code base. It uses standalone melonDS as a statically-linked dependency, which means that large changes and merge conflicts are less of an issue.
It's a head scratcher that the DS Cores run so poorly on Android when the Play Store Emulators have evolved so well over the years vs Retroarch. The situation is still the same as it's ever been: Drastic is fast enough for potatoes but is closed-source. Desmume and melonDS are the only open-source options.

I have a nice Retroid Pocket 2+ that I’m really enjoying for handheld emulation, and while the DS emulator works, it’s not the most accurate simulated experience. I’m hoping we’ll see a third-party company create an emulation handheld specifically for DS/3DS games.
10 Μαρ 2024 · NDS emulation status in 2024. Hello everyone, I'm itching to play some older titles again (hgss, b2w2) and try some games I missed in NDS. I have used desemu a few years ago and have used drasticds for android. So far I liked drasticDS.
13 Μαρ 2023 · DraStic - Considered as the Best and Most Accurate NDS Emulator for Android Out there. It's Paid but definitely Worth It. melonDS - Considered as a Close 2nd to DraStic in terms of Emulation Speed and Accuracy. Can Play DSi Games and is Free. RetroArch - An All in One Emulator. Though I don't recommend RetroArch if you're New to Emulation.
thanks for this responce, the issue i was having with standalone emulators is that even tho some are for windows, they dont work so good on a wimdows portable. like "Sameboy" for gameboy roms cant go true fullscreen as the white header of the emulator is always on. Any emukators u recomend for gameboy gamboy color gameboy advance ds
In general, you need to find ROMs that match the version of the emulator that you're trying to use. Even then, compatibility is far from 100%. Out of 102 titles I have on my RP4P, there are 9 that I can't get working under any emulator (MAME or FinalBurn). The rest run on 1 of the two flavors of MAME I mentioned.
