19 Ιουλ 2008 · If the color of someone's eyes is black, then he has black eyes. If someone has been punched in the eye and the surrounding area turns black, then he has a black eye. If both eyes are blackened, then he has two black eyes, although I guess you could also say he has black eyes, but it wouldn't be as precise.

Usually a black eye is the swollen, injured area around the eye that you get when something hits you in the eye: not a good way to describe her beautiful eyes! (So we might laugh at an old folk-song that says she has two big black eyes. They meant it differently then.) 'Dark' is okay: that means dark brown here.
6 Ιουλ 2006 · In Spanish dos ojos negros is a great compliment (if you´ve got black eyes). However, a black eye (due to a hit or a blow) in Spanish (or at least in Mexico) is "un ojo morado". It is just like if you said in English (she´s all black and blue) toda ella es azul y blanca ... dose not make any sense.

The adjectival form of it is normally spelt throned (as it already ends in -e, you don't add a second -e-), but this word can be one or two syllables, depending on (a) what century you're in, (b) whether you're writing poetry, and (c) whether you need one or two syllables at that point.
