1 Ιαν 2011 · #1. I found a recipe for a homemade blackpowder solvent, can't remember where but here it is. Mix up a pint or more of the following: 2 parts hydrogen peroxide, 2 parts alcohol (methyl or isopropyl), and one part Murphy's Oil Soap. Use as a bore solvent and parts wash.

4 Μαρ 2007 · The best solvent I know of for black powder is water, but that won't get you anywhere with the lube. I bet you'd like to find a lube solvent that also happens to work on black powder. I doubt it will work on synthetic lubes, but mild soap is great for the olive oil, crisco, tallow and mink oil grease lubes I've used.
17 Φεβ 2011 · Why is it that some people try to sell others on the suggestion that black powder needs more than just water for a solvent? I mean - it doesn't even need soap - just plain tap water - and COLD water at that. Now, the water and alcohol used as a patch lube for pre-cut patches while shooting a winter trail walk is just fine.
1 Ιαν 2006 · The correct recipe is, 2 parts isoproply alcohol (rubbing alcohol 70%. Walmart has it).....2 parts hydrogen peroxide......1 part Murphy's Oil Soap. Stirred not shaken :wink: .
5 Φεβ 2015 · The absolute best cleaning "solvent" for black powder is hot, soapy water. Not only does it work the best of any, it's cheap too. Jon
