The Bob Jones (BJU) athletic teams are called the Bruins. The university is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), primarily competing in the South Region of the Division II level.
To accommodate substantial growth after World War II, BJC relocated to Greenville and became Bob Jones University, opening in 1947 with over 2,500 students. Adding six academic schools and expanding the campus footprint, BJU continued to prepare students from around the country to follow Christ.
BJU has had six presidents: Bob Jones Sr. (1927–1947); Bob Jones Jr. (1947–1971); Bob Jones III (1971–2005); Stephen Jones (2005—2014); Steve Pettit, (2014-2023); and Joshua Crockett, (2024 to the present). Its religious influence, its race relations, and its political influence have generated significant controversies.

5 Απρ 2023 · Steve Pettit was named president in 2014, the first non-Jones family member to hold the job since the school was founded by Bob Jones Sr. in 1927. He was succeeded by Bob Jones Jr., Bob Jones III and then his great-grandson, Stephen Jones. Bob Jones IV elected not to work at the school.
