25 Οκτ 2010 · Extended Operating System Loader (XOSL) is a full-featured free boot manager with a real, easy-to-use and full-blown graphical user interface. XOSL-OW is an Open Watcom port of XOSL 1.1.5 (Dec 23, 2000) by Geurt Vos developed with Borland BC31.
With XOSL comes Smart Boot Manager (SBM). It is distributed under the terms of the GNU GPL. XOSL use SBM to indirectly support booting from CD-ROM. The CD-ROM booting howto can be found in the manual/cdrom folder. The manual to SBM can be found in the manual/sbm folder.

Booting into the Smart Boot Manager (used to support booting from CD/DVD) results in a non-responsive keyboard. Booting into Linux using the XOSL boot manager is not successful because of a non-responsive keyboard after the XOSL boot manager hands over control to the Linux boot process.
In the case that XOSL fails to boot, or crashes at a certain point, it is possible to bypass the entire boot manager. That is, the boot manager is loaded, but no initialization is preformed. XOSL is bypassed by depressing the left Shift key before (and while) the boot manager is loaded.
