Oklahoma allows most people to carry concealed handguns—and to carry all firearms openly—without a license. But a few places are off-limits to guns.
19 Μαΐ 2021 · Oklahoma is a shall-issue, permitless carry state. Licenses are processed at the county level by the local sheriff’s office. No permit is needed to purchase a firearm from a private individual, there is no waiting period and there is no firearms registration in the state.
Oklahoma recognizes any valid concealed or unconcealed carry weapons permit or license issued by another state. If you are from a state that allows you to carry a handgun but does not issue permits or licenses, Oklahoma reciprocates under the permitting law of your state.
Oklahoma permits most adults 21+ to openly carry or conceal carry without a permit, including non-residents if legally allowed firearms in their home state. For reciprocity with other states, out-of-state visitors can obtain an optional Oklahoma Self-Defense Act handgun license.
As of November 1, 2019, Oklahoma no longer requires a permit for a person to legally carry a concealed or open firearm in public if they are 21+ years old. [4][5] Permits are still available and are issued by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
