Our Grundartangi, Iceland smelter is our largest, most-modern and lowest-cost facility with production capacity of approximately 317,000 metric tonnes of aluminum. Grundartangi is 100-percent owned and operated through our wholly owned subsidiary Norðurál Grundartangi ehf.
3 Νοε 2021 · CHICAGO, Nov. 03, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Century Aluminum Company (NASDAQ: CENX) announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Norðurál Grundartangi ehf (“Norðurál”), has commenced construction of a new low-carbon billet casthouse at its Grundartangi, Iceland smelter.
Century Aluminum Company is a US-based producer of primary aluminium, with aluminum plants in Kentucky, South Carolina and Iceland. It is the largest producer of primary aluminium in the United States. [1] The company is a publicly held corporation listed on the NASDAQ.
In 2023, Norðurál produced 310.421 metric tons of aluminum and aluminum alloys, using roughly 25% of all electric power generated in Iceland. The number of employees was approx. 614. Read more

29 Νοε 2021 · Century Aluminum Company started construction of a new low-carbon billet casthouse at its Norðurál Grundartangi smelter in Iceland. The new $120 million value-added casthouse will be able to produce low-carbon Natur-Al™ billet, as well as increase production of primary foundry alloys.
