After an apprenticeship in the historic clubs of Chicago, Charles was pulled further westward, to one of the epicenters of the contemporary Blues scene--San Francisco. Wheal got the call from harmonica player Mark Hummel to fill the guitar chair in his band.
Charles Wheal and his band play a variety of blues and roots music that has been winning fans since 2006, when he left Mark Hummel's band to focus on his own music. In his live performances, as well as his recordings, the music is delivered by seasoned professionals playing with passion and focus.

2 Σεπ 2021 · I then began a new life, teaching skiing in Vail, CO during the winter, and playing music in the San Francisco Bay Area for the rest of the year. After 6 years of doing that, I destroyed my left knee in a skiing accident, and began playing music full time and touring around the world with a band.
