CleanMyMacX is a legitimate application, developed by MacPaw, who have been developing for Mac for decades. You can get it from Apple’s App Store. That said, most people don’t need applications like CMM, others can do a lot of harm to their Macs by not paying attention to what you are asking CMM to do.
We have threee Macs which have had CleanMyMac installed for years now. About once a week we run the "smart scan" tool. It normally deletes a GB of various "junk" files (cache files etc).
The CleanMyMac X site has some red flags & bullshit claims: "When your Mac stalls, free up its RAM memory in a click." - this sounds like a memory cleaner which is mostly snake-oil software.

CleanMyMac isn't exactly the best utility but it DOES effectvely remove all traces of applications allowing you to do clean installs. If you install, say, MS Code, and want to uninstall it to do a completely clean installation you can't do that by just dragging the app to the trashbin.
