The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) is a regional economic community in Africa with twenty-one member states stretching from Tunisia to Eswatini. COMESA was formed in December 1994, replacing a Preferential Trade Area which had existed since 1981.
COMESA is a regional economic community of 21 countries in Africa that aims to promote trade, peace and security. It offers benefits such as a wider market, greater productivity, food security and financial integration.
The Secretariat is based in Lusaka Zambia and implements the regulations and directives of the Council of Ministers. It has three offices, an executive management, a management team, and various divisions, units and projects.
