The ‘Conclusion’ confirms that global warming is the major challenge for our global society. There is very little doubt that global warming will change our climate in the next century. So what are the solutions to global warming?
5 Μαρ 2014 · Summary. There is still time to avoid the worst impacts of climate change, if we take strong action now. The scientific evidence is now overwhelming: climate change is a serious global threat, and it demands an urgent global response.
5 Οκτ 2021 · To have a chance of keeping global warming to 1.5°C, emissions of greenhouse gases must halve by 2030 and reach ‘net zero’ by 2050. Every additional increment of warming escalates the risks to people, ecosystems and communities.
20 Μαρ 2023 · Described as an “an atlas of human suffering and a damning indictment of failed climate leadership” by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, one of AR6’s most alarming conclusions is that adverse climate impacts are already more far-reaching and extreme than anticipated.
Mounting evidence indicates that the global climate system has been warming in the 20 th century. This evidence is based on a multiplicity of indicators, such as increased surface, ocean and tropospheric temperatures; decreased sea ice, snow cover and glacier extent; and sea level rise.
global surface temperature since AR5 is principally due to further warming since 2003–2012 (+0.19 [0.16 to 0.22] °C). Additionally, methodological advances and new datasets contributed approximately 0.1°C to the updated estimate of warming in AR6.10 {2.3, Cross-Chapter Box 2.3} (Figure SPM.1)
• 90% of the extra heat associated with global warming has been taken up by the ocean (see box What are greenhouse gases? on page 6). The ocean is now warming faster than at any time in at least 11,000 years. • Sea level has risen globally by about 20 centimetres (approximately 8 inches) since 1900. It is rising
