Have had a copper for years, love it. Tried Kyleena, hated it so much, had constant cramping and affected my mood and mental health really negatively. Only side effects with copper are heavier and slightly longer (by about 2-3 days) periods with some worse cramps during my period.

With hormones, there will always be a risk of hormonal side effects like acne. My doctor specifically told me that Skyla IUD (my alternative choice, lowest dose of hormone available to me) would likely cause some acne.
Copper IUD cause heavier and more painful cramps because it’s copper. The hormonal IUDs can and frequently do reduce bleeds. It’s best practice to check the strings once a month at around the same point in your cycle every month.

I don't know about the smaller copper IUDs in Europe and Canada, but the Paragard does include anemia as a possible side effect, so that's something you might want to be cautious of. I recommend supplementing with iron—it's actually pretty hard to overdose on iron, especially as a menstruating woman.
