La Paz County (Spanish: Condado de La Paz) is the 15th county in the U.S. state of Arizona, located in the western part of the state. As of the 2020 census , its population was 16,557, [ 1 ] making it the second-least populous county in Arizona.

La Paz (Yavapai: Wi:hela) was a short-lived early gold mining town along on the western border of current-day La Paz County, Arizona. The town grew quickly after gold was discovered nearby in 1862. La Paz, Spanish for peace, was chosen as the name in recognition of the feast day for Our Lady of Peace. [2]
La Paz County was formed on January 1, 1983. Since then tourism and agriculture have become the leaders in the county’s economy. The towns of Parker and Quartzsite are the main population centers, as well as the main business areas for residents and winter visitors.
