The Crystal16 is a powerful system to simply use for polymorphism, salt or co-crystal formation. Using 16 parallel reactors, you can test a wide diversity of crystallization conditions such as solvents and solvent mixtures, compound concentrations, counter-ions, temperature profiles.
Rock crystals can be split with the starmetal cutting tool, splitting the traits between the crystals, with a small chance of losing a trait. Adding fortune to the tool reduces the chance. You can "grow" more traits onto a crystal by dropping it into liquid starlight for standard crystals.
If you drop a crystal with a starmetal dust into liquid starlight, it'll turn into a crystal cluster which grows and can be harvested for a new crystal with more properties than the original seed crystal.
I found rock crystals by walking around on the surface at night with my wand out. It's lowkey rare but i found some lights that look like shooting stars falling from, like 6blocks into the ground. Place a torch or somethimg to flag the spot and dig there until bedrock.
The Crystal16 is a medium throughput platform with up to 16 samples running at one time, in 4 independent temperature profiles from -20 to 150 °C. Each reactor is equipped with real time non-invasive transmissivity analytics allowing for live information about your samples at 1 ml scale.

Rock Crystal is the common name for colorless quartz. The material is abundant and has been used for centuries as a gem. Quartz crystals are among the earliest talismans.
