12 Οκτ 2009 · While you can use both, "a delight to the eye" is a set expression that is widely known and commonly used. So "delighted my eye" is simply a mild variation. "Set expression" is the way I think of it... I'm sure someone on the forum can give us the grammatical term for it.
20 Αυγ 2011 · Much to my delight = which caused me much joy. In this case, it's used ironically/sarcastically. It was the exact opposite of delightful.
