30 Αυγ 2024 · If the AC adapter type is None - Verify that the AC adapter is connected to the laptop, the LED on the AC adapter is ON, and the correct AC adapter is connected to the laptop. If the AC adapter type is Unknown - Try with another working AC adapter.
29 Ιουν 2012 · There is usually a setting in the BIOS to fix this - you will have to boot to the BIOS and look around. The setting is usually about detecting power supply and to inactivate this feature. Note: Seems from searching, some versions of the BIOS don't have the ability to shut off AC Adapter detection.
There's a quite popular problem with Dell notebooks: the AC adapter is not recognized as Dell's and it is said to be "unknown" in Bios and after starting the machine. This results in CPU underclocking (a lot) and battery not charging at all (although notebook is usable).

4 Μαρ 2024 · There could be many reasons why your dell laptop AC adapter would not work and not be able to provide sufficient charging for the laptop to work. Your AC adapter is faulty, the adapter/charger is not handled properly and may undergo external tear and thus might be not working properly.
Check to see if the AC adapter is detected in the BIOS as follows: Press f2 immediately on system restart to access the BIOS. Let us know the Adapter type in the BIOS.
