On the desktop, rename the Whatsapp - shortcut to Whatsapp to ease the next steps. If you want you can place the shortcut on another folder.

What I did was to copy text in the normal way - then placed the mouse cursor into the Whatsapp text box with a left click - I let go of the mouse then held down Ctrl on the keyboard, then pressed V on the keyboard just once and let go. Voila! Hope it works for you. I did the same.

2 Φεβ 2021 · I really would like WhatsApp desktop or even the Web App to stay running & connected to my account . so it pop's up messages on my Windows 10 PC even if the App has been closed with X. ideally minimized to system tray but at the least still running. Only if you log out or disconnect from the phone do I want it NOT to send notifications.
EDIT: It's launching now! I didn't do anything but thanks to all those who reached out to WhatsApp and made the thread popular. I've tried to fix this problem twice but it doesn't go away. Every time I double click the whatsapp desktop shortcut, the cursor loads for a second, then nothing happens. Whatsapp does not launch.
