Experiment with diffraction through elliptical, rectangular, or irregular apertures. Make waves with a dripping faucet, audio speaker, or laser! Add a second source to create an interference pattern.

In this lab we will use laser light to investigate the phenomena of interference and diffraction and will see how we can use these phenomena to make accurate measurements of very small objects like the spacing between tracks on a CD and the thickness of human hair. The Details: Interference. Consider two traveling waves, moving through space:
LAB 01. Interference and Diffraction Using Visible Light. 1. Objective. The objective of this experiment is to show that light can exhibit wavelike properties such as interference and diffraction. 2. Theory.
You can show diffraction and interference of light using single, double or multiple slits. However, students may find these difficult to appreciate. Diffraction by a simple wire is a more straightforward situation to explain.
This is a simulation of diffraction of light by a double slit. Use the sliders to adjust the distance between the slits and the wavelength of the light. Use the checkboxes to show or hide the wavefronts, maxima, and vertical scale. Use the Show Interference Pattern button to create the interference pattern that would be seen on the screen.
Interference and Diffraction. 14.1 Superposition of Waves. Consider a region in space where two or more waves pass through at the same time. According to the superposition principle, the net displacement is simply given by the vector or the algebraic sum of the individual displacements.
Explain wave behavior of light, including diffraction and interference, including the role of constructive and destructive interference in Young’s single-slit and double-slit experiments; Perform calculations involving diffraction and interference, in particular the wavelength of light using data from a two-slit interference pattern
