Donald James Gummer (born December 12, 1946) [1] is an American sculptor. His early work concentrated on table-top and wall-mounted sculpture. In the mid-1980s, he shifted his focus to large free-standing works, often in bronze. In the 1990s, he added a variety of other materials, such as stainless steel, aluminum and stained glass.
Moving beyond wood to stone, bronze, stainless steel, aluminum, and glass as his primary materials, his artworks evolved into subtly inventive freestanding sculptures, often of monumental scale, that exhibit his unfailing attention to craftsmanship and detail.

Don Gummer is an American artist born in 1946. He is known for his contributions to contemporary sculpture, particularly in materials such as stone and bronze. Gummer received formal education at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, followed by studies at Yale University, where he earned his Master of Fine Arts degree.

1 Μαΐ 2021 · Best known for abstract, large-scale sculptures that seem to reach, swirl, or expand upward, Gummer has long been invested in creating pieces with presence. Influenced by the structured beauty of floorplans, the artist began a series of large, wooden wall reliefs in the early 1970s.
