The FIA Formula One World Championship has been one of the world's premier forms of racing since its inaugural running in 1950. The word formula in the name refers to the set of rules all participants' cars must follow. A Formula One season consists of a series of races, known as Grands Prix.
Seven-time World Drivers' Champion Michael Schumacher held the record for the most Grand Prix victories with 91, before being surpassed by Lewis Hamilton in 2020. Sebastian Vettel has four consecutive titles to his name, winning them all with Red Bull Racing. Four-time World Champion Alain Prost driving his McLaren MP4-2B in 1985.
