23 Μαρ 2023 · 13.1.6 Ferric Sulfate. Ferric sulfate (FS) is a hemostatic agent that has traditionally been used for bleeding control. Its use was promoted as a pulpotomy agent to induce quick hemostasis and prevent clot formation, therefore improving the performance of whatever material was placed in the pulp chamber after it.
The formocresol pulpotomy technique is considered the most uni- versally taught and preferred pulp therapy for primary teeth at the present time1, and since it was introduced in 1904 by Buckley2, it has undergone a lengthy evolution to shorten the application time and reduce the concentration of the agent used.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) intends this guideline to aid in the diagnosis of pulp health versus pathosis and to set forth the indications, objectives, and therapeutic interventions for pulp therapy in primary and im- mature permanent teeth.
Glutaraldehyde and ferric sulphate have initially emerged as less toxic FC alternatives. Out of the two, FS has been used more extensively with good clinical and radiographical outcomes. It produces minimal devitalization and preservation of the pulp tissue [ 15 , 23 , 24 ].
This trial was designed to evaluate the clinical and radiographic success rates of calcium-enriched mixture (CEM) cement with and without low level laser therapy (LLLT) and compare them to that of formocresol (FC) and ferric sulfate (FS) in primary molar pulpotomies.
KEYWORD Ferric sulfate; Formocresol; Primary teeth; Pulpotomy Aim To evaluate the use of formocresol (FC) and ferric sulfate (FS) as pulpotomy agents in vital pulp therapy (VPT) in primary molars by dental practitioners. Materials and methods One hundred seventy-nine patients (aged 74.09 ± 20.75 months) who underwent pulpotomy were enrolled.
We performed this network meta-analysis to determine the comparative efficacy of formocresol (FC), ferric sulfate (FS), sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), calcium hydroxide (CH), mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), biodentine, and laser for pulpotomy of molar teeth.
