The Wombat Car Company is the maker of the Wombat Rebody Kit, a custom designed steel-framed fiberglass body kit that fits on a classic VW Beetle Chassis. The kit is designed so that there is no fabrication, welding, or fiberglass work required for the assembler, only some fitting of the custom parts.
Fiberglass body kits are almost all made by hand, and because of that they don't have the same precision of fitment and finish as, say, your machine-made CAD-designed factory bumpers do. Also, most fiberglass body kits won't withstand a fender-bender as well as, for example, poly-urethane body kits.
VW Pan Based Chassis. This custom 3 piece sub-frame marries our Coupe and Speedster bodies to a modified VW pan using existing bolt on points of attachment. The pan needs to be reduced from 94.5 in (2400 mm) to an 82.7 in (2100 mm) wheel base.
