23 Οκτ 2022 · Best Answer. According to the Chilton's Collector's Edition 1972-1979 Auto Repair Manual, the 302 is a 1972 motor and the point gap is .017. The point dwell is 26-30 degrees. Wiki User.
15 Νοε 2003 · I did try a few plugs including platinum and split fire and my MSD hated both of them. I had to change them just as often anyway. I run plain old autolite 25's and they run just fine. I gap at .035. I tried .040 and .045 and didn't see any difference and considering the rpms I turn I decided to stay at .035.

11 Φεβ 2002 · After the heads were repaired, I purchased an MSD 6AL w/rev limiter. You can make a dual point distributor work, but you've got to use good points and replace them often. Good points are around $10 for each set (two required), and the condensors are also a few dollars.

I personally stay in the range of .035 to .045 with a blaster 3 coil, 8mm wires and a 6AL. My engine is somewhere around 10.5 compression.
