There are several vaccines available to prevent hepatitis B. Vaccination should be considered by people at high risk of infection: male homosexuals and heterosexuals with multiple partners, people who receive hemodialysis or blood products, household and sexual contacts of HBV carriers, and users of street drugs who share needles.
Students entering sixth thru 12 th grade, three doses of hepatitis B vaccine administered at appropriate intervals. Minimum intervals: Between first and second doses must be at least four weeks. Between second and third must be at least eight weeks. Between first and third must be at least 16 weeks.
